>> well, a man who used an axe to burglarize an antioch church found himself face-to-face with the church's pastor. police say the burglar broke into family first church on contra loma yesterday morning. the pass to receive a notification of a long going off went to the church to try to investigate the burglar allegedly tried to fight the past over the past was able to hold the man down to police, got there arrested him. thankfully, nobody was hurt. breaking overnight, the toledo fire department responded to a large house fire in the city. these photos are from the crockett kirchhaine his department. they were sent over to help on the word yet on where this happened or if they were any injuries? well, the power is back on this morning for hundreds in livermore that was knocked out thursday morning after a motorcyclist crashed into a power pole. >> on mines road that's just south of tesla road. that motorcyclist was killed in the crash, according to chp, he was riding at a high rate of speed. more than 200 customers were without power for most of the day. as a result of that

accident. in the south bay teen is unfortunately dead now at 3 others hurt following a car crash that ended. the car chases should say that ended in a crash. deputies say they spotted the stolen car in cupertino little after 3 o'clock in the morning yesterday. they tried to stop that car, but the driver. refused to pull over and instead led deputies on a chase into saratoga. it all ended when that car crashed into a tree right near los gatos road. one passenger in that vehicle died at the scene. the driver and 2 teenage girls who are also in the car were taken to the hospital. deputies say that driver is now facing a number of charges, including vehicular manslaughter. >> fire crews in san francisco spent thanksgiving responding to several kitchen fires. luckily, there was no damage reported and the thanksgiving meals were saved in all cases. the fire department offering tips on how you can stay safe. you still have to cook over the holiday season. >> so many people get complacent when we get around

are friends and we have lots of activities to in a little preparation will help ease that anxiety. prepare your kitchen to make sure that kids and pets don't go into the kitchen, making sure that when you're cooking, the handles for your pots are turning inward so that people can't knock them over and having an escape plan from your apartment or your or your place of congregation. so that if something does happen, everybody knows what to do and where to go. and then call 9-1-1. >> meantime, one of those kitchen fires. firefighters responded to the help save the family's house and thanksgiving dinner. take a look at this photo shared by the fire department. crews say an oven fire broke out at a north beach home. the flames were put out but the oven no longer work. the family couldn't cook. so the firefighters actually took that turkey station. 28 and they cooked it for them. few hours later, they find it back fully cooked for the family to enjoy tis the season for this type yes. what a great story.

says a number of services and apps have popped up in recent years with promises of alleviating debt and fixing bad credit. clearly the target is people who are really desperate and probably just not all that well informed. >> and they must think that there's some kind of quick fix that they can get kind of current credit. maybe you seen an ad for into its credit karma. >> it shows a guy who finds his dream apartment but can't get it because of poor credit. just seconds. he watches as his credit score goes making the apartment available. >> let's look at that again. if a credit score of 619 is your problem, a score of 640 might be a step in the right direction, but it's not a credit karma spokesman acknowledged to me that this is a fanciful way of depicting how the apps credit builder service works and boosting your score actually takes time. >> there are different credit scores out there. the most common is the fico score which ranges from 300 lousy credit to 850 excellent credit. there's nothing illegal per se

sheriff's office says that a woman contacted them last week saying she believed her missing brother was recently featured in a story reported by our la sister station, ktla, the man that she was referring to this man who you see on the screen right now is nonverbal and was found in south los angeles back in april at the saint francis medical center in lin wood had been caring for him. hospital officials eventually asked for the public's help in identifying him. investigators eventually confirmed the man's description matched that of a person reported missing. back in 1999. from the rural town of doyle. the used fingerprints to positively identify him. the man's family whose names are being withheld right now for privacy plans to reunite with him soon. well, they used fingerprints to positively identify the and again, that's that's the good news with this story is that he's going to green out of this family. so we'll follow up if there's anything more we can report on that. meanwhile, new this morning, the san jose public library has released a list of their most checked out

>> also common. we see a lot of people getting sick just because there are around a lot of people. so it's really actually probably more than ever. i really important time to be really careful with not just how we eat, but other parts of lifestyle, according to the american heart association, winter holidays bring on more heart attacks than any other time of the year. >> even more happened during the last week in december. >> all of the heavier foods that are a little bit higher and saw maybe more alcohol, more sugar. we do see more heart attacks and heart failure during holiday season. so for people who are at risk for those things, even more reason. and the san francisco fire department says on thanksgiving day they are seeing a high volume of calls for health-related issues. in addition to our normal calls for service are seeing a little bit or a rise in what we call altered mental status and can be caused from people forgetting to take their medication for their medical condition.

county prosecutors have sentenced. 38 year-old joseph carroll to a total of more than 200 years to life in prison for killing 3 people. they say these murders date back to 2009. that was when carol killed. his first victim was in a drive-by shooting. the second murder happened in 2010 where carol shot the victim while they were exiting their car. and then the 3rd murder was another drive-by that was back in 2011. >> all right. we'll sells a state university responding after boys state announced the 4 fitting a women's volleyball match against them for the 3rd time in a row. yeah. so at this point, boise was scheduled to face the spartans tonight in las vegas after beating utah. >> state on wednesday. but they've instead decided to forfeit the decision effectively ends their season. which means that san jose now has advanced to championship match on saturday. now san jose state says they'll continue to celebrate and support all of their students, including student athletes as they compete for their
