Driving additive manufacturing success in Asia Pacific

Happy New Year to everyone! 2024 is the year of the dragon, not only the coolest mythical creature out there, but also my zodiac sign. In Japan they call a man born in the year of the current zodiac sign, Toshi-Otoko. It is believed that this person will have great luck that year. Let's see if this is true.Since leaving Velo3D last October, I have been enjoying some well earned downtime after jumping straight into Velo after leaving Autodesk. However, the party needs to end, and I am looking forward to a new adventure. (A post about the "downtime adventures'' will be going up sometime soon)--Whats next?--I am going to be doing AM consulting, with a major focus on helping companies build their brands in the Asia Pacific market. Let's be honest... Language barriers, cultural challenges, difficult-to-schedule timezones and a lack of knowledge about the local market are enough to make most companies leave the region to nothing more than an afterthought. HOWEVER, as one of the largest AM regions and a strong growth forecast, it is also one of the most attractive. Starting is always a huge challenge, so my consulting services will be focused on getting companies the initial jump they need, then developing and executing a longer tail business development strategy. From supporting channel partners and end customers, through to marketing and go-to-market strategy development, I will be the scrappy (but stylish) support for you to break into this challenging market. Starting at around 10-20 hours per month, I can be a part time employee, ensuring that the initial costs are kept as low as possible.I already have 4 companies that I am working with, but still have some capacity to assist some more. If you are interested, please feel free to send me a message or send me an email (peter@layered-ltd.com) to set up a call. #3dprinting #additivemanufacturing #metalam #designoptimization #dfam

What are the key components to creating this realistic virtual try-on experience? 🔍Achieving an ultra-realistic Virtual Try-On experience has always been our ultimate goal. It took us many years of practice, numerous testing phases and a fair amount of brilliant people in our team, to get to the seamless result we currently provide our end users with. 👨💻To truly simulate an object in a 3D engine, we need:🌟 Realistic 3D data🌟 Realistic materials rendering🌟 Optimal lightingLighting definitely is the key to give a true-to-life aspect to the frames displayed in 3D, for many different reasons:💡 First of all, the perception of some materials’ colours can change because of the environment. The same material will look brighter or scattered according to the room’s light exposure, the weather etc.💡 Also, the lenses’ reflection is essential: it must be accurate for the users to feel like the frames are the closest to reality possibleDigitizing frames in 3D is very particular because the smallest details will stand out and, according to how accurate they are, you might almost feel like the frames are on your face! 😎 This is our evergreen goal: to give you the most realistic try-before-you-buy experience 🚀 To learn more about this field of expertise, dive into our dedicated Expert Talks “The challenge of lighting in virtual try-on" with Xavier Rivory, StudioLab Manager https://bit.ly/3PRjIOr #Fittingbox #3D #Digitization #VirtualTryOn #Eyewear
