I have reflux and use it regularly so I don't wake up with a soar throat.

I use mine when I have acid reflux. It also helps a bit with back pain at times. Other times it makes it worse, back pain can be funny that way.

I don't need this adjustable bed, but it looks like a super slick deal to me! Mattress stores charge a fortune, and even this randomish sold-by-Amazon adjustable bed [amazon.com] is $390.

Quote from beware : Does anyone actually use their adjustable bed? The only time I ever use mine is when I'm sick. I used it when I first got it then it's just easier to prop up with pillows

Does these work with any kind of mattress or required to switch to flexible/specialized mattress?

Works on foam types. Basically anything not with springs I think, since the springs could get stuck with one another. I'm using a foam mattress with adjustable base.

Nowadays, most adjustable beds can handle most mattresses even with springs. However, you want to make sure the springs are individually wrapped coils, not the innerspring coils. The cheapest mattress will be made with innerspring coils usually. If you check the description of your mattress, it should usually say whether or not the mattress is compatible with an adjustable bed.
Also it matters how much incline you need, the thickness of your mattress, and how firm it is. If your mattress is very thick and firm, even if it's a foam mattress, it may not incline well. And even if you have a cheap innerspring mattress, you could technically use it on an adjustable base if you are only planning to incline very little as it'll put little stress on the coils.

I probably wouldn't trust the 1200lb capacity, had a mainstays box frame break randomly. Walmart has a great return policy though.

I was in a car accident in 09 and would have some excruciating lower back pain. Started sleeping on the couch and recliner and haven't had back pain in years although I do miss a traditional bed sometimes.

Those memory foam ones probably work best.

Every single day. To read, watch tv, and sleep on side all require different setting. This deal is slick as I paid $100 more for one on Amz. The biggest downside is when you travel an dont have one...
