It comes afterLetizia looked elegant on Wednesday as she attended the 85th Madrid Press Association Awards.

The royal, who was once a journalist herself, granted the awards at the Real Casa de Correos (The Royal House of the Post Office) in Puerta del Sol, which serves as the office for the head of regional government.

Letizia looked effortlessly glamorous in the smart three-piece suit - a relatively affordable option from high street brand Mango.

The Queen paired the €79.00 jacket with €49.99 trousers and a €39.99 waistcoat, with the total cost coming to €169 (£140).

The stunning three-piece suit in mottled grey wool made for a minimalist yet elegant ensemble, perfect for the increasingly cold weather and complete with a pointed v-neck, shoulder pads and straight-cut tailored trousers.

She added a smart black handbag with a chain from Nina Ricci, and black loafers from Hugo Boss.

Letizia awarded journalist Pedro Piqueras the APM award for Best Journalist of the Year 2023, and was accompanied by President of Madrid's Press Association, Maria Rey.

The mother-of-two will no doubt be in her element at the awards ceremony as a former journalist herself, who met her husband during an interview in the early 2000s.

Her journalism career saw her report from Washington, in the US, Guadalajara in Mexico and Iraq during the war. She also broadcast live from ground zero after the 9/11 attacks in September 2001.

Letizia, whose father Jesús José Ortiz Álvarez and stepmother Ana Togores are both journalists, worked in TV and newspapers before marrying Felipe in 2004.

After a stint at Asturian daily paper, La Nueva España, she went on to work for ABC, a popular national newspaper that enjoys the third largest circulation in Spain.

Next came a stint at Spanish news agency EFE before a move to Guadalajara in Mexico saw her take on a role on local paper, Siglo 21.

Back in Spain a year later, she worked for the Spanish version of Bloomberg, a news channel and agency specialising in economics, before moving to CNN+.

By the time she met her husband-to-be, Letizia was working for popular TV channel 24 Horas, where along with anchoring the popular Telediario 2 evening news bulletin, she reported on a wide range of breaking news events.

The ceremony came just a day after Letizia and her husband King Felipe embraced locals who were affected by the flooding in Valencia.

The Spanish monarchs visited the flood damaged town of Chiva, in the region of Valencia, eastern Spain, in the aftermath of catastrophic deadly floods, where more than 200 people died.

The visit is the first time the royal couple returned to the area after they were heckled by angry residents during their first visit to the Valencia region of Paiporta.
